To Create Equipment using Parametric Models

Following is the workflow for creating equipment using parametric models. Similarly, you can create raceways using parametric models.

  1. Click Parametric Content Creation in the Project Setup group on the Manage ribbon.

It opens the temporary model view named Parametric Component Temp Views and also opens the Parameterized Modeling dialog.

  2. Set the properties in the Parameter setting for Parameter set.
    For Example,
  3. Select the Parameter set and right-mouse click to select Add option to add new parameters and set its properties in the Parameter setting section.
    For Example,
  4. Select the elements from the Basic primitives list for example, Cuboid and drag-drop the elements under the Component Collection of Model definition tree.
    For Example,
  5. Select the component from the Component Collection list for example, Group and drag-drop the component under the Component Collection of Model definition tree.
    1. Drag-Drop the elements under the Group component node.
    For Example,
  6. Select the element for example, Cuboid under Component Collection of Model definition tree and change its Parameter setting.
    For Example,
  7. (Optional) Click Preview to view the model in the DGN file.
  8. Click Export Model.
    1. The Export dialog opens.
    2. Create a new folder and save the *.pmd in that folder at the given location C:\ProgramData\Bentley\BRCM CONNECT Edition\Configuration\WorkSpaces\BRCM Metric Example\Standards\BRCM\std_dataset\equipment\ParametricObjectLib\(Folder)\(File name).
Note: The folder name and *.pmd filename should be same.
    For Example,
  9. Close the Parameterized Modeling dialog.

The Default DGN view for the model opens.

  10. Click Equipment Manager from the Equipment group under the Equipment & Cable Tab.

    The Equipment Manager dialog opens.

  11. Select the New option in the Create/Modify Equipment Tab.
    1. Select the ParametricObject from template option.
    2. Select the template from the ParametricObject from template dialog and click Open.

It loads the template with its properties in the Equipment Manager dialog.

    3. Enter the PObjectMap filename similar to *.pmd filename created in Step 7 in the Equipment Properties section and click OK.
    4. Click Yes in the BRCM Request dialog to save the changes.

      The Save As dialog opens.

    5. Enter the POB XML File (*.xml) filename in the Save As dialog and click Save.
